Smeg
You’ll have seen their products, and you’ll have heard the name, but you won’t necessarily have associated the two! Who are we talking about? Who else, but Smeg? Smeg are Italy’s largest manufacturer of kitchen appliances, specialising in everything from cookers to dishwashers, but without doubt their most famous line of products are their fridges, particularly the FAB design. You might not know it, but you’ll have seen these Smeg designs on countless TV programs and even in movies – Smeg is a Hollywood star of the appliance world.
Many of Smeg’s appliances come with a retro feel that reflects their long history of appliance manufacturing; you might say they’ve been through the wash a few times. They were founded way back in 1948 as Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla (which by a strange coincidence abbreviates to Smeg) and have continued to grow ever since. Smeg combine modern technologies and methods with tradition and heritage to create products that are truly timeless. This heritage is reflected in the fact that Smeg’s headquarters is still only a short distance from the town in which it was founded. There’s no place like home, and in that home, there’s no appliance like Smeg.
